Intel Core Ultra processors with up to 96 TOPS of AI performance, 64GB LPDDR5X RAM, dual 10GbE, Thunderbolt 4, and 8K HDMI — this is a spec sheet that would embarrass most mini PCs, let alone a NAS.

The hardware advantage over Synology is stark. For the price of a diskless Synology DS1621+ (£700+), you get a UGREEN NAS with a vastly more powerful CPU, double the RAM, built-in AI, and Thunderbolt 4 connectivity. The only genuine concern is software maturity — UGOS is new, and Synology DSM has 20+ years of refinement. But with full Docker support, most power users will run their own apps anyway.
